2. Advent: Christmas Bakery

kekseAnother week has passed and today we already have the 2. Advent. However, that also means that we can present a new advent special. This time we want to show you three of our favourite recipes for christmas that include white chocolate balls with a cookie-cream cheese filling , gingerbread with a lemon-sugar-icing, and of course classic cinnamon stars. The links to the original recipes are down below, but we changed some of the ingredients.

1. recipe: Snowballs

All you need*:

  • 1 package butter biscuit
  • 250 g creamcheese
  • 2 bars of white chocolate
  • sugar pearls

Preparation:
First you have to turn the biscuits into small crumbs. Add the creamcheese and knead it well. After that you can form some balls and put them into to frigde for one hour.

Heat the chocolate and put the balls into the chocolate. Then decorate the balls with some sugar pearls.

2. recipe: Christmas Tree Gingerbread

All you need (for dough)*:
300 g rye flour
180 g sugar
10 g cinnamon
10 g baking soda
20 g gingerbread spices
2 eggs
80 g honey
Milk
All you need (for icing):
lemon
sugar
green food colouring
sugar pearls

 

 

 

 

 

 

Preparation:
The recipe is simple, but delicious. First you have to mix flour, baking soda, eggs, sugar and honey together. Add cinnamon and gingerbread spice. Knead the dough well and let it rest. (We let it rest for two days.)

As soon as you start working again, warm the oven to 170 °C. Roll out the dough and cut out some triangles. Of course you can use a cookie cutter too. Brush the cookies’ surface with milk and put them into the oven for 10 minutes.

For the icing you have to mix lemon juice together with sugar until you get a vicous consistency. Add green food colouring and put it into a piping bag or a simple freezer bag. Then you just have to colour the trees and put some sugar pearls on top.

3. recipe: Cinnamon Stars

All you need*:

  • 3 egg whites
  • 250 g icing sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 400 g ground almonds


Preparation:
First you have to split egg white and yolk. Beat the egg white and add the sugar, a pinch of salt and lemon juice. Take away about ¼ of the mixture and keep it for later. Mix the almonds and the cinnamon together with the rest of the the whipped egg white and let the dough rest for an hour.

After that you can roll out the dough on a sugary surface and cut out the stars. Brush the stars with the egg white mixture and put them into the oven at 170 °C for 12 minutes.
